Auburn’s Meghan Lee, Florida’s Leah Braswell Share SEC Women’s Swimmer of the Week

Auburn’s Meghan Lee and Leah Braswell of Florida are the co-women’s swimmers of the week in the latest SEC Weekly honors, announced Tuesday.

Auburn and Florida both cleaned up on the awards. The Tigers’ Mikkel Gadgaard is the men’s swimmer of the week, with Avery Bargeron as the freshman of the week. Elizabeth Perez represented the Gators as the co-women’s diver of the week, with Joaquin Gonzalez Pinero the men’s freshman of the week.

The other two honors went to Texas A&M divers, with Kurtis Mathews on the men’s side and Aimee Wilson sharing the women’s honor with Perez.

Auburn and Florida did their damage at the Auburn Invitational. Gadgaard won the 200 freestyle and 500 free in NCAA B cuts. The Danish swimmer moved into sixth in program history in the 200 free (1:34.12) and fifth in the SEC this season in the 500 free (4:16.30).

Pinero won the 200 butterfly (1:45.03) and 200 individual medley (1:46.56) at the Auburn Invitational. The Argentine swimmers also placed third in the 400 IM.

Braswell dominated the 500 free and 1,650 free, both in NCAA B cuts. The senior also took home fourth in the 200 free.

Bargeron added to Auburn’s performance with NCAA B cut times in the 100 fly and 200 fly. Those times are ninth and eighth, respectively, in Tigers program history.

Perez swept the springboard events at Auburn. The senior from Venezuela scored 316.40 on 1-meter and 339.90 on 3-meter. She added a third-place finish in platform diving.

Both Texas A&M divers competed at the Air Force Invitational. Mathews, a senior from Australia, won the 3-meter and set an Aggies record with 486.95 points. He was runner-up to teammate Victor Povzner on 1-meter. Wilson swept the springboard events, the Canadian scored 306.20 on 1-meter and 352.00 on 3-meter.
