Atlantic 10 Conference Championships, Day Four

BUFFALO, New York, February 25. AFTER being atop the leader boards since Day One, the University of Richmond women captured the Women's Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championship for the second consecutive year Saturday night at the Flickinger Center.

Richmond, winners of 10 out of the last 11 A-10 Championships, sat atop the leader board for all the four days of the championship en route to its 2012 title. The Spiders finished with 751 points.

In the women's 1,650-yd Freestyle, La Salle freshman Colleen Larkin finished first overall with a time of 16:48.64 . She was followed by George Washington sophomore Caroline Myers (16:50.42) and Fordham sophomore Kara Field (17:01.78).

In the 200-yd Backstroke, Richmond junior Lauren Hines captured the gold with a time of 1:56.81. Fordham junior Brienne Ryan (1:57.72) and Xavier freshman Carolyn Stewart (2:00.83) captured the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

The 100-yd Freestyle saw another Richmond swimmer take first-place as senior Charlotte Brackett recorded a time of 50.64. Following after her was La Salle sophomore Katie Snee (51.11) and junior Liz Jordan (51.18).

Richmond sophomore Mali Kobelja continued her dominant performance in the 200-yd Breaststroke as she finished first with a time of 2:13.85.

On the women's three-meter boards, Massachusetts' Michaela Butler led the way. Butler earned 287.00 points, good for the gold, while Massachusetts' Molly Elkins (253.85 points) and Fordham's Andrea Krok (245.95 points) took home the silver and bronze, respectively.

In the women's 200-yd Butterfly, Fordham senior Courtney Collyer set a new A-10 record in the event with a time of 1:59.42.

The final event on the women's side was the 400-yd Freestyle Relay. The Richmond relay team consisting of freshman Allison Titley, sophomore Mali Kobelja, junior Lauren Hines and senior Elizabeth Cohan recorded a time of 3:22.21 and a first-place finish, along with securing the 2012 A-10 Championship.

Following Richmond in the standings was Fordham with 557 points, La Salle (476), Massachusetts (434), Rhode Island (257), Duquesne (256), St. Bonaventure (249.5), Xavier (245), George Washington (233.5) and Saint Louis (174).
