Arno Kamminga Heads Dutch Power in 100 Breaststroke at Stockholm Open

The Dutch tandem of Arno Kamminga and Caspar Corbeau delivered a one-two finish in the 100-meter breaststroke on the second day of action at the Stockholm Open. Kamminga claimed the victory in a meet-record time of 59.23, with his countryman touching the wall for second place in 59.58. Corbeau had a narrow lead at the turn, 27.99 to 28.01, but Kamminga was able to pull away down the last length, on the strength of a 31.22 split. Corbeau closed in 31.59.

Meet Results

Lithuania’s Danas Rapsys followed up his win in the 400 freestyle from Friday with a first-place finish at half that distance. Rapsys topped the field in the 200 freestyle in 1:46.41, which was more than two seconds clear of Estonia’s Kregor Zirk (1:48.68). In the women’s 100 butterfly, the home nation’s Louise Hansson was the class of the event, as she prevailed in 57.27, which was almost a second quicker than runnerup Helena Bach of Denmark. Bach stopped the clock in 58.13. Hansson added a second triumph in the 100 backstroke, where she was timed in 1:00.35.

Sophie Hansson joined her sister, Louise, as a winner when she got to the wall first in the 50 breaststroke. Hansson registered a swim of 30.37 to edge Estonia’s Eneli Jefimova by .11.

The Netherlands’ Nyls Korstanje, who won the 50 fly on Night One, backed up that decision with a win in the 100 butterfly. Korstanje posted a meet record of 52.03.

Sweden’s Lisa Nystrand won the 400 individual medley in 4:48.92 and countryman Victor Johansson was fastest in the men’s 1500 freestyle, going 15:04.97.
