Arkansas Wins Every Event In Win Over Illinois

The Arkansas women dominated Illinois on senior day in Fayetteville, Arkansas, winning 187-101.

The Razorbacks started off the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of backstroker Anna Mayfield, breaststroker Madison Strathman, butterflier Natalie Burnett and freestyler Nina Drolc posted a time of 1:43.68, winning the race by two seconds.

Arkansas’ Rachel Stoehr took the women’s 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:23.52. Illinois’ Amelia Schilling finished in second place.

Maddie Monroe picked up a win for the Razorbacks in the 200-yard freestyle. The senior posted a time of 1:50.88.

Mayfield and Strathman picked up individual wins in the next two events. Mayfield won the 100-yard backstroke in 55.54 and Strathman took the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:04.60.

Sophomore Taylor Weiss won the next event: the 200-yard butterfly. Weiss posted a time of 1:59.47, leading Arkansas to a 1-2-3 finish.

Drolc picked up two individual wins in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle. She touched in 23.51 in the 50-yard swim and 51.12 in the 100.

Arkansas seniors dominated the diving events. Shelby Bartlett took the three-meter competition with a score of 336.45. Hannah Bortnick took the one-meter event with a score of 304.58.

Arkansas’ Chloe Hannam won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:59.61. Strathman then won a second individual event, posting a 2:17.12 in the 200-yard breaststroke.

Mayfield won her second event with a victory in the 500-yard freestyle. The senior touched in 4:53.14. Weiss also won a second race: the 100-yard butterfly. She touched in 55.11.

Hannam took the 200-yard individual medley in 2:03.58, wrapping up the day’s individual events.

Arkansas capped off the meet with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Mayfield, Drolc, Stoehr and Monroe touched in 3:26.22.

The Razorbacks are back in the water Feb. 16 at Southeastern Conference Championships.
