Arizona Announces More Staff Changes

TUCSON, Arizona, May 24. UNIVERSITY of Arizona swimming and diving head coach Eric Hansen has added Tracy Duchac as an assistant coach and retained Dr. Michele Mitchell to take over as the team's director of operations.

Duchac, a former Texas A&M women's assistant for the previous five seasons, helped the Aggies to unprecedented success including three Big 12 team championships and five Top 10 finishes at the NCAA Championships. Additionally, she aided in achieving A&M's first two NCAA individual national champions in 2009.

A 2006 graduate of Purdue University, Duchac was an All-American sprint freestyle swimmer for the Boilermakers while earning her bachelor's degree in Health Promotion. She is a former College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) all-academic honoree as well as a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.

A native of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., Duchac and her husband, Adam Slusser, were married last summer.

Mitchell, who served under former head coach Frank Busch as the program's diving instructor for 15 seasons, will remain on staff in the administrative director of operations position.

A two-time Olympic silver medalist and UA alumna, Mitchell was named the Pac-10's Diving Coach of the Year on four separate occasions and has coached divers to 27 All-American honors.

Recently, Mitchell was instrumental in hosting the 2010 U.S. junior Nationals and junior World Championships at the Michael Kasser pool on the UA campus. It was the first time the prestigious diving event had ever been held in Tucson.

Mitchell earned her undergraduate degree in English and a minor in Athletic Coaching and Secondary Education from the University of Arizona in 1983. She received her Master's degree in Sports Administration from Arizona in December of 2000 and her Doctorate in Education Psychology in May of 2007.

Together, Michele and her husband Robb have two daughters, Ariana and Tierney, and a son, Dakota.

The Wildcats will now begin the search for a new diving coach.
