Ukraine’s Andrey Govorov moved up to fourth all time in the men’s 50-meter fly with a meet record time at the 2016 European Championships.

Govorov, who already clocked a 23.00 this morning, unleashed a 22.73 tonight during semis.   That lowered his own meet record of 22.87 set at the 2014 Berlin event.

It also moved him to fourth all time in the event’s history.  Rafael Munoz (22.43), Roland Schoeman (22.57), Milorad Cavic (22.67) and Matt Targett (22.73) are the other members of the top five.

Notably, Govorov’s time also lowered the textile best of 22.76 set by Cesar Cielo in 2012.

Great Britain’s Ben Proud (23.42), Italy’s Piero Codia (23.55), Hungary’s Laszlo Cseh (23.57), The Netherlands’ Joeri Verlinden (23.67), France’s Fred Bousquet (23.69), Israel’s Meiron Cheruti (23.70) and Belarus’ Yauhen Tsurkin (23.72) also made the finale.
