Cal All-American Amy Bilquist has decided to move to Arizona to train for the 2020 Olympics.

Bilquist was part of two NCAA-record relays, three national title relays, finished runner up in the 100 back and made two more individual finals in her final NCAA Championship meet for Cal.

Prior to arriving at Cal, she swam at Carmel, Indiana, but before that, she trained in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she is moving to train again.

“I have decided to begin the next chapter of my swimming career in Scottsdale, AZ. I will be training under Kevin Zacher and Bob Platt while competing for Scottsdale Aquatic Club,” Bilquist told Swimming World.

“I am very excited to further my growth as a swimmer and a person in the state where I first learned to swim and fell in love with the sport. Ultimately, this decision was not an easy one for me. Cal and Teri have provided me with so many opportunities and blessings that I could never say thank you enough for. I have grown as a swimmer, a student and a person under Teri and I look forward to continuing our relationship as I move to Arizona.

“The amazing women on the team have inspired me to keep chasing my goals in life and I have been blessed with the chance to do that this upcoming year. I will forever be grateful for my time at Cal and I will always be a Golden Bear! I am excited to continue growing and improving in Arizona, and also having the chance to live with my sister one last time.”

Bilquist finished third in the 100 back, and fourth in the 200 back at the 2016 Olympic trials, barely missing the team. She is at the top of her game after finishing her college career and is looking to translate that success into long course, and ultimately, the trials.

Ann Belew O’Brien just wondering how you managed to connect Bob Bowman to this? Amy is done with NCAA swimming and Bob does not coach Scottsdale. As the article mentions, she is returning to train with her former coaches, Kevin Zacher and Bob Platt.
