Day two of the World Junior Open Water Championships featured only one distance- the 18-19 year olds’ 10K.

The top three women had a very tight battle. Great Britain’s Alice Dearing finished first in 2:04:25.1, only a half second ahead of Nikoletta Kiss of Hungary in 2:04:25.6. Just 1.9 seconds behind Dearing was Russia’s Valeriia Ermakova in 2:04:27.0.

In the mens race, the victory was more decisive. Hungary’s Kristof Rasovszky stopped the clock in 1:53:01.7. Thirty seconds behind him was Zhongyi Qiao of China in 15:32.0. Completing the podium was Italy’s Andrea Manzi with a 1:53:36.9.

Through the second of three days of competition, the wealth has been fairly spread out. Yesterday’s champions came from Russia, China, France, and Spain. Tomorrow, swimmers will return to the water for the 14-16 and Under 19 4×1.25K relay.
