On Day three of Russian Juniors Nationals for boys 15-16 years old and girls 13-14 years old held in Volgograd (outdoor pool), some fast swims were performed and yet another record has fallen.

Alexandra Denisenko, who broke the 400 IM meet record yesterday, continued with another one – this time in the 200 IM. She beat the record by more than a second and earned her next National title with 2.18.40, left her rivals far behind her – Maryanna Bobrova took silver (2.21.33) and Lyubov Burakova took bronze (2.22.60).

Valeria Egorova, another record holder from yesterday, won the 200 backstroke with 2.16.46. Even though she couldn’t add yet another record to her collection, she cut almost two seconds from her prelim time. Svetlana Lazareva and Anastasia Avdeeva put up a great battle for the silver where Lazareva touched out Avdeeva 2.18.24 and 2.18.27, respectively.

Danila Kitov grabbed the gold in the boys 200 breast with 2.15.79, missing the meet record by 0.8. Evgeny Somov and Konstantin Kolbasov (2.16.30 and 2.18.86) won the silver and bronze.

Evgeny Somov was back in the pool soon for the 200 IM final. He definitely left something in the tank as he was very close to beat another meet record but slowed down at finish and ended up just three tenths behind it in 2.04.31. The new addition to his silver in 200 breast – gold medal and National title was a prize one only could hope for. Kliment Kolesnikov came in second (2.06.28) and Alexander Kazantsev completed the podium in third with a 2.07.33.

15-year-old Gleb Karasev won the 50 free finals from the lane four with a 23.42. This result was slower than the meet record posted by Evgeny Sedov in 2012 (22.82) yet Karasev improved his semifinal result of 23.54. Ivan Girev finished second – 23,56 and Denis Korshikov tied with Alexey Lavrov for bronze – 23.74.
