Air Force Assistant Colleen Murphy Receives Judy Sweet Award

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — Air Force assistant women’s swimming coach Colleen Murphy received the Judy Sweet Award at the NCAA Women’s Coaching Academy in Denver.

“I was honored to be invited to the NCAA Women’s Coaching Academy,” Murphy said. “The Alliance of Women Coaches and the faculty and staff that serve the organization are truly special. They are dedicated to the professional development of the female NCAA coaches and their women’s teams. Winning the Judy Sweet Award was both a surprise and an honor. I am so thankful to the 47 other amazing coaches who were my colleagues and partners during this incredible learning experience.”

The Judy Sweet Award recognizes two members of each team at the conference whose spirit and dedication to their own and to others’ personal and professional success has made an impact on their peers. This award is granted via nomination by fellow classmates at each program. There were two groups of approximately 24 each and Murphy was voted by her peers to receive the Judy Sweet Award from her group.

“The Academy was absolutely the best four days of learning I have ever experienced at any conference,” Murphy said. “I am excited to use the multitude of resources with our team at the Academy as they become the next leaders in our nation’s Air Force.”

Murphy was recently a finalist for the College Swimming Rising Assistant Coach of the Year and finished third in the fan voting. She just completed her fourth season at the Academy and has helped the Falcons set several new school records. This season, she helped coach Air Force’s first ever NCAA Division I All-American as Genevieve Miller earned the honor in both the 500 and 1650 free style and will compete in the Olympic Trials in late June.
