ADAM PINE SETS US OPEN RECORD IN 100 FLY PRELIMS

Despite a slow start, Nebraska senior Adam Pine, from Australia, set a US Open record in the 100 meter butterfly prelims with a 51.56. That broke Geoff Huegill's mark of 52.18 from 1998.
Texas junior Nate Dusing qualified second in 52.31, Arizona sophomore Roland Schoeman qualified third in 52.43, Texas sophomore Tom Hannan qualified fourth in 52.46, Texas senior Bryan Jones was fifth in 52.57, Auburn junior Oswaldo Quevedo and South Carolina sophomore Zsolt Gaspar are tied for sixth in 52.72 and Auburn junior Jeffrey Somensatto is eighth in 52.88.

Pine wins prelims despite a slow start.
