Olympic 100m breaststroke champion Adam Peaty has been forced to cancel his 2020 AP Race Clinics due to the confines and constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic. He left open the possibility of a few clinics still being possible late this year.

Peaty, who spoke to Swimming World of late about the mini-pool dropped into his garden to keep him in the flow and in his element and of the love of his partner Eiri Munro and the baby boy whose birth the couple are looking forward to in September, has been forced to cancel all 40 planned AP Race Clinics worldwide.

The AP Race Clinics will take place in 2021, says peaty, who emphasised that safety comes first.

Peaty posted the following note about the AP Race Clinics cancellation today:

Over the last few weeks and months we have been re planning over and over again to see if there is a way we can run the AP Race Clinics this years. It has become apparent to us that there isn’t a way we can run these safely in keeping with government guidance whilst also keeping the magic of the Race Clinics.

This is a massive shame for the whole team as we had over 40 AP Race Clinics planned worldwide this year but the most important things are safety and the Tokyo 202(1) Olympics.

We are still looking at options to run a reduced number of clinics in the UK towards the end of the year but again if there are not possible we will be back bigger and better than ever in 2021!

We have been working overtime to deliver you AP Race Plus which will change your swimming journey. AP Race Plus is an online platform to deliver you advice and guidance in 5 key areas of swimming for both swimmers and parents. Check out @APRacePlus to keep up to date for when we are launching.

Thank you for sticking with us and we wish you all the best from the @APRaceClinics team.
