ACC Weekly Honors: Nicholas Albiero, Coleen Gillilan Lead Honorees

Louisville’s Nicolas Albiero has been named the ACC Men’s Swimmer of the Week and Florida State’s Joshua Davidson has been selected as the Diver of the Week. The ACC Women’s Swimmer of the Week is Notre Dame’s Coleen Gillilan and North Carolina’s Aranza Vazquez has been named Diver of the Week.

A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Albiero won four events in a 188-111 win over Kentucky. The senior took first in the 100 fly, 200 fly and was part of the winning teams in the 200 and 400 medley relays.

Davidson swept the springboard events in the 180-120 win over No. 22 Auburn. The senior from Tomball, Texas, scored a 327.15 in the 1-meter competition and a 377.70 on the 3-meter.

A sophomore from Fort Collins, Colorado, Gillilan won four individual races and was part of another four first-place relay teams at the Shamrock Invitational. The Fighting Irish swimmer won the 100 fly, 200 fly, 100 breast and the 200 IM, and was part of the winning relay teams for the 200 free, 400 free, 200 medley and 400 medley.

Vazquez won all the springboard events in meets against No. 2 Virginia and South Carolina. The freshman from La Paz, Mexico, won the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions at both meets. Vazquez posted a 337.50 on in the 1-meter event and a 390.08 on the 3-meter against Virginia, and against South Carolina she scored a 344.03 on the 1-meter and a 351.68 in the 3-meter competition.
