ACC Swimmers of the Week: Virginia’s Kate Douglass, Matt Brownstead

The University of Virginia’s Kate Douglass and Matt Brownstead were named the ACC swimmers of the week Tuesday.

Douglass, a sophomore, led No. 1 UVA to a 188-104 win over Navy. She won four events, including a pool record in the 100 freestyle (48.26 seconds) and as part of the 200 medley relay (1:38.35). Douglass also won the 50 freestyle and 200 IM. She holds the fastest time in the nation this season in the 100 free and 200 IM.

The freshman sprinter Brownstead led the No. 13 Cavs to a 181-117 win over Navy. Brownstead won the 50 free (20.12 seconds) and 100 free (44.24). He also helped the Cavaliers win the 200 medley and 400 free relays.
