The No. 21 Missouri Tigers had a strong showing on their senior day. The Tigers defeated Vanderbilt by a score of 138-96.

The Tigers started off strong, taking the top two spots in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of backstroker Hannah Stevens, breaststroker Katharine Ross, butterflier Maddie Gehrke and freestyler Anna Patterson posted a time of 1:41.39, nearly half a second ahead of the second place Missouri team. Vanderbilt’s top team finished third with a time of 1:47.20.

Kira Zubar won the 200-yard freestyle for the Tigers with a time of 1:52.38. Vanderbilt’s Summer Brown took second with a time of 1:52.73.

Missouri’s Nadine Laemmler picked up a win for the Tigers in the 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 56.33. Abby Duncan had a big swim for the Tigers in the 100-yard breaststroke, posting a time of 1:00.13. Duncan won the race by nearly five seconds.

Sharli Brady picked up her first win of the day in the 200-yard butterfly. The Missouri sophomore posted a time of 2:00.32, beating Vanderbilt’s Breanna Sapienza by over four seconds.

The Tigers continued to role in the 50-yard freestyle. Missouri took first, second, third and fourth place in the race. Gehrke led the way, touching the wall in 23.67.

Brady picked up another individual win in the 100-yard freestyle. She touched the wall in 52.04. Brown touched in second for the Commodores with a time of 53.02.

Stevens touched first in the 200-yard backstroke. The U.S. National Team member touched the wall in 2:01.30, leading the Tigers to a 1-2-3 finish. Missouri also took the top three spots in the 200-yard breaststroke. Katharine Ross led the way, posting a time of 2:12.71.

Missouri freshman Aurore Jacolin took the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:03.58. Vanderbilt’s Carrie Bencic touched second in 5:11.47.
Erin Metzger-Seymour continued the Missouri win streak with a win in the 100-yard butterfly. She touched in 55.33 to defeat Sapienza by seven-hundredths of a second.

In the 200-yard individual medley, Missouri had its swimmers compete as exhibition. Vanderbilt’s Kara Lucenti won with a time of 2:09.17, though the Tigers’ Miranda Mercke posted the event’s fastest time. Mercke touched the wall in 2:05.70.

The same thing happened in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Vanderbilt won with a time of 3:34.23, but Missouri would have placed first had they not swam exhibition. The Tigers’ team of Zubar, Rachel Hayden, Victoria Trost and Courtney Evensen posted a time of 3:29.21.

Since Vanderbilt does not have a men’s team, the No. 13 Missouri men did not have an official meet. However, the Tiger men held an intrasquad meet. Michael Chadwick continued to impress, posting a time of 43.14 in the 100-yard freestyle.

Vanderbilt swims next against Marshall and North Florida on Saturday. Missouri is back in action tomorrow at the Tiger Invite.
