The list of meets for the Big 12 was short this week, but it included a successful senior day for the Iowa State Cyclones as they claimed the victory over out of conference rival UNI. A cancelled quad meet for TCU resulted in Iowa State’s senior day being the only meet of the weekend.

Top Storylines:

  1. Seniors led Iowa State to the victory on Senior Day. Maybe it was fate, maybe it was strategic planning, but the overwhelming majority of event winners in Iowa State’s win over UNI were seniors competing in their final college dual meet. In any case, it was a bittersweet moment for many of these athletes.
  2. Texas was absent from competition this past weekend, which means that they’ll be back in action this coming weekend and will probably be somewhere into their tapers for the conference championship. Look forward to some fast swims from the Longhorns in the next week.
  3. TCU’s quad meet against Morningside, William Jewell, and Tabor, which was set for January 23, was cancelled, which gave the Horned Frogs another weekend of solid training to prepare for the end of the season.
