Meyer of the Northern Kentucky Clippers Adds to his Success in Columbus

As the second timed finals session of the day, the night session started off with the women’s 200 meter free relay.  The Ohio State Swim Club women crushed the final heat finishing with a time of 1:44.42.  East Grand Rapids was second behind OSSC with a time of 1:47.95, while Club Wolverine was third at 1:48.50.

The men’s 200 free relay took off next with the Ohio State Swim Club taking the win and dominating the event by over four second.  OSSC touched at 1:32.00, while Club Wolverine touched second at 1:36.02 and the Dayton Raiders A relay was third by .03 at 1:36.05.

After the relays, the women’s 200 meter IM took place with Meg Bailey of the Ohio State Swim Club garnering her second individual win of the day.  Bailey finished at 2:15.81, while Zoe Thatcher clocked in a time of 2:16.65.  The two finished well ahead of the rest of the field, with Sophie Skinner of the Northern Kentucky Clippers touching third at 2:20.75.

As for the men’s 200 meter IM, Club Wolverine had quite a showing in the event.  Like Bailey, Cameron Craig of Club Wolverine garnered his second individual win of the day.  Craig touched at 2:06.20 over a second ahead of Nicholas Smith of the Northern Kentucky Clippers who touched second at 2:07.53. Just barely after Smith, Robert Zofchak was third at 2:07.61.

Onto the women’s 100 meter free, the Ohio State Swim Club crushed the event, placing first, second, third, sixth and eighth.  Aliena Schmidtke touched first at 56.75, while Macie McNichols was second at 56.92 and Cheyenne Meek was third for OSSC at 57.40.

Continuing their domination, the women’s A relay for the Ohio State Swim Club crushed the 400 meter medley relay, finishing at 4:14.74.  Firestone Akron was second behind them at 4:20.97, while the Ohio State Swim Club B relay touched third at 4:21.54.

On the men’s side, the Ohio State Swim Club also dominated the 400 meter medley relay, taking first and second in the event.  The A relay finished first at 3:48.37, while the B relay finished at 3:53.41.  Club Wolverine B relay took third just behind the OSSC B relay at 3:53.49.

Moving on to the distance events, Brendan Meyer of the Northern Kentucky Clippers had his third individual win of the day in the 800 meter free.  Meyer clocked in a best time of 8:15.82, winning the event by nearly 12 seconds.  Meyer’s teammate Nicholas Smith was second at 8:27.73, while Skyler Cook-Weeks of the Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics was third at 8:31.64.
