Ohio State Swim Club 11-12 Girls Crush Two NAG Relay Records

A quartet of 11-12 girls from the Ohio State Swim Club took down two National Age Group records in Oxford, Ohio this weekend.

Swimming at the Ohio Long Course Junior Olympics, Ava LacheyMartina PeroniHannah Routh, and Riley Huddleston broke the 400 medley relay mark on Friday. Saturday, they followed that up with a new 200 medley relay standard.

In the 400 medley relay, the girls posted a 4:27.99 to destroy the 4:34.46 set by the Westchester Aquatic Club earlier this summer. Joy Jiang (1:04.90), Esther Lin (1:19.05), Yilinna Collmar (1:08.43), and Kristin Cornish (1:02.08) held the old record.

All of yesterday’s swimmers were at least two seconds faster per 100 meters.

In today’s record setting swim, Lachey, Peroni, Routh, and Huddleston combined for a 2:03.74. That was a second and a half under the old mark of 2:05.15.

In 2014, the Ohio State quartet set the 10 and under 200 medley NAG with a 2:19.25. The girls have dropped nearly 14 seconds in two years. These same four girls also hold the 10 and under 200 freestyle relay NAG.

The old record was set in 2008 by Lake Oswego’s Grace CarlsonBrie BalsboughBrenda Cha, and Abby Lyons.
