2022 Pac-12 Women’s Championships Day 2 Prelims: Calypso Sheridan Sets Up 200 IM Showdown with Huske, Forde, Ivey

The 2022 Pac-12 Women’s Championship continued with the Day 2 prelims session from Federal Way, Washington.

The session includes 3-meter diving, the 500 freestyle, 200 IM and 50 freestyle.

Stanford took the early lead on Wednesday night by winning the 200 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay.

Pac-12 Women’s 500 Freestyle

Stanford’s Brooke Forde opted out of the 500 freestyle, but the Cardinal still took the top seed in the event.

Senior Morgan Tankersley put together a strong race to take the first seed for finals at 4:40.99, an NCAA “B” cut.

Arizona State seniors Erica Laning (4:41.11) and Emma Nordin (4:41.16) took the second and third seeds, respectively.

USC freshman Caroline Pennington took the fourth seed (4:43.05), followed by Cal’s Ayla Spitz (4:43.57), Stanford freshman Aurora Roghair (4:43.62), Cal freshman Fanni Fabian (4;43.77) and Cal junior Mia Motekaitis (4:44.56).

Pac-12 Women’s 200 IM

The 200 IM will be completely stacked with big names, led by a quartet within about two tenths of a second of each other.

USC graduate transfer Calypso Sheridan took the top seed in 1:55.65, an NCAA “B” cut.

Just eight hundredths behind was Stanford freshman Torri Huske, who finished in 1:55.72.

Fellow Stanford star Brooke Forde, who opted for this event instead of the 500 free, took the third seed in 1:55.80, just eight hundredths behind Huske and 16 behind Sheridan.

Cal’s Isabel Ivey is looming as well, taking the fourth seed in 1:55.86 as all four are within milliseconds of each other.

Cal senior Alicia Wilson took the fifth seed in 1:56.41, followed by sophomore teammate Isabelle Stadden, while freshman teammate Leah Polonsky took the eighth seed (1:57.75), giving Cal four in the final.

USC senior Isabelle Odgers took the seventh seed in 1:57.33.

Pac-12 Women’s 50 Freestyle

Stanford made a move in the sprint, claiming four finalist spots, including three of the top four.

Junior Taylor Ruck took the top spot at 22.10, just ahead of senior teammate Anya Goeders (22.16). Freshman Amy Tang was fourth (22.24), tied with UCLA’s Claire Grover and just behind USC’s Anicka Delgado (22.19).

USC sophomore Hannah Henderson took the sixth seed (22.28), followed Cal sophomore Emily Gantriis (22.29) and Stanford freshman Anna Shaw (22.30).
