2019 World University Games Day 4 Prelims: Live Recap
The 2019 World University Games began its fourth day of swimming competition from Naples, Italy on Sunday.
Swimmers go into day four hoping for more meet records to be broken along side fellow competitors Ian Finnerty, Lisa Bratton, Zane Waddell, and Zach Apple.
The day started with the women’s 200 breast, followed by the men’s 100 free, women’s 100 fly, men’s 800 free, and the women’s 4×200 free.
Women’s 200m Breaststroke – Preliminary
Coming in first was USA’s Emily Escobedo dropping two seconds to go a time of 2:22.87, followed by South Africa’s Tatjana Rens Schoenmaker with a time of 2:26.14. Following close behind Schoenmaker was Russia’s Daria Chikunova with a time of 2:26.82.
In fourth was Great Britain’s Katie Jane Matts (2:27.87), in fifth was Japan’s Kanako Watanabe (2:28.00), in sixth was South Africa’s Kaylesne Corbett (2:28.09), in seventh was Canada’s Miranda Stever (2:28.32), and in eighth was Italy’s Francesca Fangio (2:28.62).

Women’s 100m Butterfly – Preliminary
Taking the number one seed of the morning was South Africa’s Tayla Lovemore with a time of 58.85, followed quickly behind by the United State’s Dakota Luther with a time of 59.22.
In third was the Netherland’s Kinge Zandringa (59.45), in fourth was Japan’s Ai Soma (59.69), in fifth was Canada’s Sarah Watson (59.81), in sixth was Canada’s Hannah Genich (59.87), in seventh was Germany’s Lisa Hoepink (59.88), and in eighth was Russia’s Polina Egorova (59.92).
