The penultimate day of preliminaries at the 2019 Speedo Junior Nationals in Palo Alto, California will have six total events on the heat sheets with the 200 free, 200 breast and 100 back. Many of the best 18 and under swimmers are present this week at Stanford with many college coaches in attendance looking for the future stars. Some of the national junior team are not present because they are preparing for the World Junior Championships at the end of the month.

Prelims will begin at 12 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

Justina Kozan is the top seed in the 200 free as she was recently named to the World Juniors roster that will compete in Budapest at the end of the month. Kozan is seeded ahead of teammate Miranda Heckman, who will be swimming at the University of Texas in a few short weeks. Ella Ristic is seeded third.

Jack Walker and Ian Grum are the top two seeds in the men’s 200 free as both guys have enjoyed successful weeks in Palo Alto. The winner between these two in the 200 free could wind up winning the swimmer of the meet after tomorrow night. Colby Mefford is the third seed in the 200 free.

Lakeside’s Claire Donan is the top seed in the 200 breast as she is seeded a second ahead of Chase Davison and Brynn Curtis. Those three are not going to World Juniors but a lot of winners from last year’s Juniors did end up qualifying this year including Anna KeatingJason Louser and Erin Gemmell, so this could be a stepping stone for a lot of the swimmers today.

Maxwell Reich is the top seed in the men’s 200 breast with Dylan Rhee sitting behind him in second place. 17-year-old Ethan Dang, who represented Team USA at the Youth Olympics last year, is seeded third.

Alexandra Crisera and Tim Connery are the top seeds in the 100 back that will close out the morning sessions this morning.

I’m so confused. Ian Grum did not swim 200 free today and Ethan Dang is seeded 22nd tonight.
