USC freshman Victor Johansson held on to his top seed from this morning, dropping a little more than a second to take the Pac-12 title in 4:13.30. Johansson was actually trailing Cal sophomore Trenton Julian into the last 50 before turning it on with a 24.93 final split. Julian, who was the second seed out of the morning, finished just behind Johansson in 4:13.61. That moves Johansson up to 14th in the country, just ahead of Townley Haas.
While USC got the first individual event win, this was a strong event for Cal. Sophomore Sean Grieshop held onto his seed from the morning to finish third in 4:14.56, while Cal senior Nick Norman moved from eighth to fifth with a 4:15.51. Notably, Stanford’s Jack LeVant won the B final in 4:14.21, faster than Stanford’s three A-finalists.

Cal senior Andrew Seliskar took the 200 IM for Cal, dropping more than three seconds from his prelims swim this morning to finish first in 1:40.53. That was just off David Nolan’s 2015 meet record of 1:40.07 and knocks .02 off his season best and #1 ranked time in the country from the Georgia Invitational.
Top-seeded Arizona freshman David Schlicht dropped to second place tonight, slashing about 8-tenths from his prelims time to finish in another lifetime-best 1:42.38. Stanford senior Abrahm DeVine, who was fourth in this event at NCAA’s last year just ahead of Seliskar, finished third here in 1:42.77 just ahead of Arizona State’s Grant House (1:42.83) and Cal’s Mike Thomas (1:42.86).

Cal junior Pawel Sendyk grabbed the second individual event win for the Golden Bears tonight, touching the wall in 18.83. Sendyk led a 1-2-3 finish for Cal, as Ryan Hoffer (19.12) and Michael Jensen (19.30) joined him on the podium.
That gives Sendyk an A cut and moves him up to #3 in the country for this season. His time also narrowly missed the Pac-12 meet record of 18.80 set by Brad Tandy back in 2014. Nikola Miljenic from USC was the highest finisher who wasn’t a Golden Bear, touching in 4th (19.35).
