The seventh night of finals at the 2019 FINA World Championships saw Team USA rebound and collect a whopping five gold medals.

Caeleb Dressel completed a difficult three-event session where he collected individual gold medals in the men’s 100 fly and 50 free, before teaming up with Team USA teammates Simone Manuel, Zach Apple, and Mallory Comerford for the mixed 400 free relay. The foursome was anchored by Manuel, who was able to hold off Australian Bronte Campbell for a new World Record time of 3:19.40.
17-year-old Regan Smith won her first World Championship title of her career with a 2:03.69, just off her own World Record time of 2:03.35. Smith now owns the two fastest times for the 200 back and is on a quick trajectory to be the fan favorite for 2020 Olympic gold medal.
After illness kept her out of several of her original races, Katie Ledecky returned to her gold-medal form, but not without stiff competition from Italy’s Simona Quadarella.
Sarah Sjostrom claimed her third straight 50 fly title and her eighth total World title in her legendary career.
