2019 Australian World Swimming Trials Prelims Day 6: Minna Atherton, Cate Campbell Nab Top Seeds

The 2019 Australian World Swimming Trials kicked off its sixth morning in Brisbane, but its athletes have only elevated the level of competition. With five full days in the books, the Aussie World Championships roster has started to fill out. With events and spots dwindling, the pressure on deck has reached its pinnacle, as some of the nation’s best athletes have two more sessions to reserve their tickets to South Korea.

There will also be a slew of multi-class events tonight.

Cate Atherton threw up a casual World Championships qualifying time in prelims, surging to a 24.33 50 free finish in order to seize top seed. Minna Atherton will feel the pressure in tonight’s final, crashing the pads to make for a heartbreaker, as her 2:07.83 just eclipsed the 200 back World’s qualifying standard.
