Women’s 800 free

Sarah Kohler claimed the women’s 800-meter freestyle title in a time of 8:22.80.  That swim was well under the German Olympic selection time of 8:33.33, and moved her up to fourth in the world.  Only Katie Ledecky (8:06.68), Jessica Ashwood (8:18.42) and Brittany MacLean (8:21.40) have been faster.

Leonie Black also cleared the German selection time of 8:33.33 with an 8:33.13 for second-place honors.

Lea Boy wound up taking third in 8:37.82, while Julia Hassler snagged fourth in 8:40.51.

Florian Wellbrock cracked 15:00 with a time of 14:55.49 to win the men’s 1500 free.  That swim put him ninth in the world, and easily cleared the German Olympic selection time of 15:02.37.

Felix Aubock, meanwhile, hit the wall second overall in a time of 15:01.18, also clearing the German selection time.

Poul Zellmann (15:05.00), Soren Meisner (15:06.14) and Ruwen Straub (15:06.40) were the other swimmers in the mix at the top of the event.

Franziska Hentke just cleared the German Olympic selection time in the 400 IM with a time of 4:38.56.  That swim edged the standard of 4:38.96 set by Germany in the event.

Julia Mrozinski raced her way to a second-place time of 4:42.39, clearing an age group record for 16 year olds in Germany.  Juliane Reinhold placed third overall with a time of 4:43.92.

Johannes Hintze hit the wall second in 4:14.72, also clearing the selection time and breaking the German age group record for 17 year olds.

Kevin Wedel took third overall in 4:17.88, while Ramon Klenz finished fourth in 4:20.89.
