Men’s 200 Butterfly

Defending European short course champion Laszlo Cseh posted the top time of the morning in 1:54.51. That time took just over three tenths off his current world’s third in the event, though he remained third. Hungarian teammate Tamas Kenderesi touched just behind in 1:54.79, good for second this morning and the fourth best time in the world this year.

Viktor Bromer touched third, posting a 1:56.67.

Women’s 200 IM

Katinka Hosszu cruised through her 200 IM this morning, stopping the clock in 2:11.55, well ahead of her heat, and leading the field by nearly a second, heading into tonight’s semifinals.

Hannah Miley touched in 2:12.43 for second seed, just ahead of her teammate from Great Britain, Siobhan-Marie O’Connor in 2:12.76.

Men’s 200 Breaststroke

Germany’s Marco Koch touched in 2:11.29 to take the top seed entering tonight’s semifinal.

Matti Mattsson, the 2013 world bronze medalist of Finland, posted a 2:11.78, good for second. Ross Murdoch was just behind with a 2:11.87, making him tonight’s third seed.

Women’s 100 Backstroke

Mie Nielsen stopped the clock in 59.26 in heat 5, setting a new championship record and posting the world’s fifth best time this year. She already holds the world’s third best time. The old Championship record was a 59.41, set by Anastasia Zueva in 2008.

Shortly after her 200 IM, Hosszu was back in the pool, this time claiming the second seed in tonight’s semifinal, posting a 59.38. Hosszu also just slid under the old record.

Kathleen Dawson of Great Britain swam a new Scottish record of 1:00.60 to earn the third seed. Katarina Listopadova swam a 1:00.78 for fourth.

Ekaterina Avramova of Turkey crushed heat 3, posting a 1:00.82, good for fifth. 2014 bronze medalist Georgia Davies won her heat in 1:00.84, and returns tonight as the sixth seed.

Grigory Tarasevich of Russia touched in 24.85, moving him to sixth in the world rankings. Camille Lacourt of France was off his world leading 24.67, finishing in 24.93. Poland’s Tomasz Polewka stopped the clock in 25.00 to move into the semifinals in third.
