Action at the Arena Pro Swim Series in Mesa continues this morning, with the second day of prelims. Hit refresh for the latest coverage.

Women’s 200 Fly

Cammile Adams was the only swimmer under 2:10 this morning. The SwimMAC Team Elite member touched in 2:08.94, seven tenths off her season best world’s 13th 2:08.21.

Swimming next to Adams, youngster Cassidy Bayer finished second overall this morning in 2:10.39. Katinka Hosszu was third with a 2:11.52.

Lauren Case (2:12.22), Maya Dirado (2:12.25), and Ella Eastin (2:12.39) will return as the fourth through sixth seeds. Ruby Martin and Kelsi Worrell tied for seventh in 2:12.94.

Men’s 200 Fly

Pace Clark won the first circle seeded heat in 1:59.00 this morning and that time was enough to earn a top seed for tonight. Chase Kalisz posted a 1:59.36 for second while Jonathan Gomez touched in 1:59.67 for third.

Michael Phelps swam a 1:59.98. The rest of tonight’s A final did not crack two minutes. Gunnar Bentz (2:00.21), Jack Conger (2:00.96), Kyler Vanswol (2:01.20) and Zach Harting (2:01.27) finished fifth through eighth this morning.

Women’s 50 Free

Abby Weitzeil was first to the wall in the 50 freestyle with a 24.83. Dana Vollmer touched second in 25.00, after posting a quick 100 fly last night.  Simone Manuel finished third in 25.10. Madison Kennedy finished fourth in 25.18 and Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace was fifth with a 25.22.

Kennedy, Weitzel, and Vanderpool-Wallae have times from earlier in the season that place them 10th, 11th, and 15th in the world.

Worrell was back on the blocks shortly after her 200 fly with a sixth place 25.36. Amanda Weir (25.54) and Isabella Arcila (25.61) will also be in tonight’s A final.

Men’s 50 Free

Nathan Adrian is the top qualifier for tonight’s 50 freestyle. Though well off his third in the world 21.70, Adrian posted a 22.49 this morning, just ahead of Anthony Ervin in 22.52. Cullen Jones posted a 22.62 in the first circle seeded heat and will enter tonight’s finals as the third seed.

Erik Risolvato (22.67), Nick Soedel (22.68), Luis Flores (22.68), Michael Chadwik (22.72), and Derek Toomey (22.73) will also swim in tonight’s A final.

Women’s 100 Back

Katinka Hosszu swam the world’s 18th fastest time this season, with a 1:00.07. She already holds the sixth fastest time at 59.49. Kirsty Coventry dominated her heat to earn a second seed 1:00.81. Maya Dirado raced her way to a 1:01.10 for third.

Kaitlin Harty (1:01.84), Fernanda Gonzalez (1:02.06), and Felicia Lee (1:02.24) placed fourth through sixth. Missy Franklin went a 1:02.38 for seventh. Ella Eastin completes the A final in 1:02.89.

Men’s 100 Back

David Plummer posted the world’s 20th fastest time this season, a 54.07, a half second off his 11th fastest 53.50, to take tonight’s top seed.

Ryan Lochte touched second in 54.83. Sean Lehane goes into tonight with a third seed 55.81.

Eugene Godsoe (55.92), Michael Taylor (56.23), Marco Palacios (56.34), Arkady Vyatchanin (56.46) and Paul Le (56.52) complete tonight’s A final.

Women’s 200 Breast

Molly Hannis put up the top time this morning with a 2:28.56. Ashley McGregor was not far behind with a 2:28.88 for second seed. Third goes to Emma Schoettmer in 2:29.20.

Hilde Luthersdottir finished fourth in 2:29.23, just ahead of Melanie Margalis‘ and Laura Sogar‘s tied 2:29.41s. Breeja Larson (2:29.52) and Haley Spencer (2:29.98) complete tonight’s A final.

Katie Meili, the winner of last night’s 100 breaststroke and the owner of the 9th fastest time in the world this year was seven seconds off that time with a 2:30.36. Barring any scratches, Meili will be left to lead the B final tonight.

Men’s 200 Breast

Chase Kalisz led the field this morning by a wide margin. He stopped the clock at 2:13.81, ahead of Nic Fink‘s 2:15.24 and Steven Stumph‘s 2:15.43. Miguel De Lara Ojeda is the fourth seed in 2:15.93 while Miguel Chavez will return fifth tonight in 2:16.36.

Despite demolishing his circle seeded heat, Andrew Wilson‘s 2:17.12 only brings him back sixth. Max Williamson (2:17.65) and Bj Johnson (2:17.83) round out the A final tonight.

Women’s 400 Freestyle

Katie Ledecky posted the second fastest time in the world this year, only slower than her own world leading 3:59.54. The world record holder cruised to a 4:03.54 this morning.

Cierra Runge swam head to head with training partner Lotte Friis and the two finished second and fourth in 4:10.51 and 4:12.10. Katinka Hosszu posted a 4:10.74 for tonight’s third seed.

Joanna Evans returns as tonight’s fifth seed in 4:12.47 ahead of Allison Schmitt in 4:12.70. Becca Mann (4:13.10) and Sarah Henry (4:13.64) will also race in tonight’s A final.

Men’s 400 Freestyle

Jordan Wilimovsky took his distance skills from the open water to the pool this morning to claim the top seed in the 400 freestyle in 3:51.29. Clark Smith was just behind him in 3:52.10. Conor Dwyer returns third tonight after posting a 3:52.33.

Michael McBroom (3:52.43), Christian Quintero (3:53.01), Ous Mellouli (3:53.79), Marcelo Acosta (3:54.26), and Matias Koski (3:54.84) will also race in the A final.
