2000 Ivy League Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships: Princeton Takes Title

The Princeton women used wins from the 200-yard breaststroke and 3-meter diving to seal the program’s first Ivy League Swimming and Diving championship since 1995. That year they co-championed with Harvard and Yale, as the League title was determined by the regular-season standings. Beginning in 1998, the League meet again determined the champion.

Tiger sophomore Jenny Macaulay posted the first Princeton win of the day after posting an Olympic qualifying time of 2:17.11 in the 200-yard breast. The Orange and Black used five-of-eight finishers in the 3-meter diving competition to notch 73 points on their team score and 147 for the entire meet. Erin Lutz led all divers with a Blodgett Pool record 530.25 points. Katherine Mattison, who was named Diver of the Meet at the conclusion of the championship, placed third with 453.85 points.

Columbia Olympian Cristina Teuscher concluded her Ivy League regular-season career with a victory in the 100-yard freestyle. She also was named Swimmer of the Meet. After competition in the NCAAs, Teuscher will direct her attention toward training for the U.S. Swim Team and the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
