Prelims Recap From The America East Conference

Friday’s prelims races at the America East Conference Championships featured three races: the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley and 50-yard freestyle.

New Hampshire got off to a hot start in the 500-yard freestyle heats. The Wildcats took the top three spots in the preliminary races. Jess Harper was first with a time of 4:49.63 and Brittany Driscoll touched second in 4:54.45. Brittany Moffatt followed her two teammates with a time of 4:54.91.

In the 200-yard individual medley, it was University of Maryland, Baltimore County that took the top three spots. Emily Escobedo led the way with 1:57.03. Kayla Lilly and Laura Massicotte followed.

New Hampshire’s Liza Baykova took the top spot in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.32. Sarah Mantz of Vermont and Kristie Langford of Maryland, Baltimore County tied for second with a time of 23.71.

Tonight’s finals will include the same three individual events, along with the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Maryland, Baltimore County: 102
Vermont: 99
Maine: 86
Binghamton: 61

None of the teams are currently ranked in the CSCAA Top 25 poll for Division I schools. The meet is being held in Worcester, Massachusetts.
