Kai Bathurst Announces He Will Transfer to Cal from Indiana

Kai Bathurst has announced he will transfer to Cal from Indiana.

Bathurst is a butterfly specialist that made the 2020 Big Ten Championship final in the 200 butterfly as well as the 200 freestyle.

He made the announcement on Instagram:

“I’m super stoked to announce my transfer to swim at the University of California, Berkeley. I wanna thank all my coaches, friends and family that helped me get here. Go bears!???” — Kai Bathurst

At the 2020 Big Ten Championship meet, Bathurst made the 200 fly A-final and placed eighth overall, while making the consolation finals in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle.

At Cal, Bathurst will join Trenton Julian in the butterfly group. he will help fill the gap left by Zheng Quah, who finished his college career this past season. His times would have placed him third on the team in the 200 fly and also sixth int he 200 freestyle.

Kai Bathurst is from Los Angeles and swam at Mira Costa High School. He also swim at Beach Cities Swimming and won the CIF Southern Section Division 2 championship in the 200 freestyle in 2019 before heading to Indiana.
