Jessica Long Featured in ‘Strong Like Her: A Celebration of Rule Breakers, History Makers, and Unstoppable Athletes’

Jessica Long has broken many barriers and become one of the most decorated Paralympians of all time.

With 29 Paralympic medals, she is one of the faces of swimming – and strength.

She and endurance/ice swimmer Jaimie Monahan were recently featured in a new book “Strong Like Her: A Celebration of Rule Breakers, History Makers, and Unstoppable Athletes.”

The book, by Haley Shapley discusses the history of women in sports and often breaking rules and barriers to participate.

Accompanying this remarkable history are photographs of current barrier breakers showing their strength, like Jessica Long and Monahan taken by photographer Sophy Holland.

The book discusses historical figures such as Babe Didrikson, the connections between the Women’s Rights Movement and sports as well as a look at the modern female athlete, like Serena Williams.

The book is published by Gallery Books, a Simon & Schuster division, and is available at most places books are sold.

It is a celebration of history, strength and the future of female athletes and worth a look just for the incredible photos, but worth it doubly for the incredible history it brings to mirror that strength.
