NEW COMMIT: Junior National qualifier Caitlyn Friebe of Springfield, Missouri has opted to remain close to home for her college career after verbally committing to Missouri State University for 2023.

She told Swimming World:

“I am incredibly excited to announce my verbal commitment to Missouri State University! A HUGE thank you to my friends, teammates, coaches, and family for all of their amazing support! I’m thrilled to continue my swimming career as a bear and can’t wait for the next chapter! ?⤴️”

A talented backstroker, Friebe does her club swimming with Missouri State Aquatics and is no stranger to the Bears’ program. She most recently raced the 100m back at Junior Nationals after placing fourth in that event at Minneapolis Futures.

In the winter, she won the 100 back at the Missouri Valley Open before going on to post five top-8 finishes at Columbia Sectionals.

Her best times include:

  • 50 back – 25.40
  • 100 back – 54.95
  • 200 back – 2:01.02
  • 50 free – 23.57

Friebe is a great addition to MSU’s roster both individually and on relays. She would’ve been their top 100 backstroker last season and would’ve ranked third in the 200 back, scoring in the A-final in both events at the 2022 Missouri Valley Conference Championships.
