2019 Mid-American Conference Women Day 4: Akron Comes Up Victorious

The final night of the Mid-American Conference wrapped up in the Ocasek Natatorium. Akron came up victorious in the conference once again. The events of the night included the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 400 free relay and 3 meter diving.

1650 Free

Nicole Swartz of Eastern Michigan won with time of 16:15.71. Hannah Schiegal of Ohio was second with a time of 16:19.04. Beatriz Pimentel Dizotti of Miami was third 16:24.17. Brittney Beetcher of Buffalo was fourth with a time of 16:34.99. Katie Scanlan of Eastern Michiagn finished fifth 16:38.21. Maria Eduar Seifer of Miami finished sixth with a time of 16:41.19. Emma Bradley of Miami (16:44.69) was seventh and Katie Garrity (16:46.69) was eighth.

200 Back

Daisy Platts, a freshman from Bowling Green, won the even with a time of 1:54.52. Second was Casey Gavigan of Eastern Michigan (1:55.33) and she was followed by Claire Young of Eastern Michigan (1:56.80), Nicole Roitenber of Buffalo (1:56.96), Izzy Herb of Miami (1:57.11), Avery Movoid of Akron (1:57.41), Olivia Garden of Akron (1:57.96) and Athena Aravantinou of Ohio (2:00.17) rounded out the top eight finishers.

100 Free

Sarah Watson won the event set a new Akron team record in the 100 freestyle with a time of 48.93. Her team mates, Morgan Waggoner (48.94), Sadie Fazekas (48.98), Ragen Engle (49.03) and Ellie Nebraska (49.38) rounded out the top five. Ella Moynihan (49.43) and Camila Lins de Mello (49.48) of Miami finished sixth and seventh. Andrea Ernst (49.72) of Buffalo finished eighth.

200 Breast

Delaney Duncan of Eastern Michigan was once again victorious with a time of 2:07.38. Paula Garcia of Akron (2:09.82) followed and Kelsey Morgan of Ohio (2:11.43) rounded out the top three. Emilia Lahtinen of Ohio (2:11.51) was fourth and Andrea Fisher (2:13.27) was fifth. Anna Martin (2:14.64), Hannah Fuchs (2:14.67), Grace Baumer (2:14.86) were sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively.

200 Fly

Mackenzie Vargas of Akron touched first with a time of 1:58.06. Paulina Nogaj, also from Akron, finished in a close second with a time of 1:58.10 and Jessica Bonezzi, also from Akron, came in a close third with a time of 1:58.26. Olivia Sapio of Buffalo had another close time of 1:58.82. Madeline Wyke of Ohio was fifth in a time of 2:01.42. Sam Glass, also from Ohio, was sixth with a time of 2:01.69. Emilie Dasnoyers of Eastern Michigan finished seventh in a time of 2:02.67. Sarah Hannings of Bowling Green rounded out the top eight with a time of 2:03.29.

400 Free Relay

Akron’s relay team of Ragen Engle, Sarah Watson, Sadie Fazekas and Sofia Henell won the event and qualified for the NCAA Championships while breaking the MAC and the Akron program record for the third time this season with a time of 3:14.42. Miami followed with a time of 3:18.49 and Buffalo was a close third with a time of 3:19.91.

3-Meter Diving

Talisa Lemke of Bowling Green finished first with a score of 341.35. Karly Crail of Akron (314.35) was second and Sophia Tsafantakis of Eastern Michigan was third (304.60). Jae Sarkis of Buffalo was fourth with a score of 299.05. Kami Goodrick of Akron was fifth with a score of 286.85. Gabrielle Mace of Eastern Michigan was sixth with a score of 285.85. Bethany Berger (283.50) and Brielle Johnston (254.90), both of Eastern Michigan, rounded out the top eight.
