Emma Igelstrom, Lars Frolander Named Sweden's Swimmers of the Year -- December 22, 2002

STOCKHOLM, December 22. EMMA Igelstrom and Lars Frolander were named Sweden's female and male Swimmers of the Year for 2002 last night.
Igelstrom set short course world records in the 50 meters (29.96) and 100m breaststroke (1:05.38) and a European record in the 200 meters at 2:19.85. Only China's Qi Hui has swum a faster 200.
Highlighting a fabulous year, Igelstrom won gold in the 50 and 100m breast at the European Championships
breast, EuroRec 200 breast, Euro-Champs 50-100 breast, and also took gold in the same events at the World Short Course Championships.
Lars Frolander, the 2000 Olympic champ in the 100m fly, is still the top male swimmer in Sweden.
