Venezuelan Open Championships: Meet Comes to Close

MARACAIBO, Venezuela, May 20. THE Venezuelan Open Championships came to a close with another slate of championship swims in Maracaibo.

Wendy Rodriguez touched out Erika Torrellas, 26.83 to 26.94, for the women's 50 free title. Ximena Vilar placed third in 27.05. Adolfo Delgado earned the men's 50 back title in 27.30 after clocking a 27.21 in prelims. Jesus Lopez touched second in 27.56, while Erick Perez took third in 27.84.

Anna Bonsanti won the women's 1500 free in 17:41.39. Florencia Melo placed second in 17:47.76, while Paola Perez picked up third in 18:06.79. Carlos Claveria dominated the men's 200 breast finale with a 2:19.23, while Kenek Gil finished second in 2:24.03. Hugo Araya wound up third in 2:26.40.

Jeserick Pinto snatched the women's 100 back title in 1:05.01, while Elimar Barrios placed second in 1:05.59. Maria Ramirez rounded out the top three in 1:07.01. Cristian Quintero won the men's 100 free in 50.37 after leading prelims with a 50.21. Roberto Gomez placed second in 50.81. Crox Acuna touched third in 50.90 after posting a 50.79 in prelims.

Mercedes Toledo raced to the win in the women's 100 breast with a 1:11.82. Daniela Victoria took second in 1:12.02, while Larismar Arcila placed third in 1:15.94. Gabriel Hernandez captured the men's 400 IM crown with a 4:39.10. Edgar Aguilar (4:40.45) and Eddy Marin (4:42.10) completed the podium.

Jeserick Pinto, Daniela Victoria, Oriana Bielukas and Lilayali Garcia won the women's 400 medley relay with a time of 4:28.02. Albert Subirats, Erick Perez, Glen Sochackyj and Daniele Tirabassi topped the men's 400 free relay in 3:24.65.
