The Morning Swim Show, August 15, 2012: Women’s 400 Free Relay From 1976 Still Inspires

PHOENIX, Arizona, August 15. ON today's edition of The Morning Swim Show we're looking back on one of the most memorable swimming races in Olympic history: the women's 400 freestyle relay at the 1976 Olympics.

We witnessed some history-making performances at the London Olympics, from Chad Le Clos' 200 butterfly victory to Katie Ledecky's gutsy swim in the 800 freestyle. As great as many of the swims we saw in London were, very few could match the significance that went into the final of the women's 400 freestyle relay in Montreal in 1976. Broken and defeated, the United States could have conceded the race to the East Germans, but that wasn't the plan. Be sure to visit SwimmingWorld.TV for more videos.
