Swimming World Competition Roundup

PHOENIX, Arizona, February 2. DURING the past week, the following meet managers took full advantage of uploading recent results to the Swimming World meet results section of the website.

AGE GROUP
SPA-WFLA
St. Petersburg Aquatics (SPA) and West Florida Lightning Aquatics (WFLA) co-hosted an age group meet Jan. 26-27 in St. Petersburg, Fla. Besides the co-hosts, swimmers from West Coast Aquatics also took part.

HIGH SCHOOL
BELLBROOK INVITATIONAL
The Bellbrook Invitational took place Jan. 26 at the Beavercreek YMCA in Beavercreek, Ohio. Participating teams included Brookville, Oakwood, Arcanum, Miami East, Wilmington, Kenton Ridge, Edgewood and Eaton High Schools.

COLLEGE
WORCESTER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE vs. BRANDEIS UNIVERSITY
The Engineers from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) traveled to Waltham, Mass., to compete against the Brandeis Judges. WPI was victorious in both contests; the women outscored Brandeis 163-95, while the men enjoyed a 157-107 win.

Junior Sonia Kent and Nysha Casha both captured three events for WPI; seven men scored individual wins for the Engineers. Brandeis had two triple winners as well: sophomore Max Fabian for the men and freshman Lauren Cruz for the women.

IVP SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic Games, a series of championship competitions for ten different sports, took place during December 2012 and January 2013. Colleges from throughout Singapore are involved in the Games, and different schools host the individual sport competitions. Swimming’s portion of the IVP Championships took place Jan. 26-27 at the Singapore Sports School.
