Strong American Lineup Set for Mare Nostrum Series

CANET, France, May 29. WHILE we've known for weeks that Michael Phelps would be the headliner at the Mare Nostrum Series in Europe, he'll be joined by a stellar group of Americans for the three-stop competition in June. Phelps & Company will be making visits to Canet, France, Rome and Monte Carlo, Monaco.

In addition to Phelps, who won seven gold medals at the World Championships in Melbourne, he'll be accompanied by several of his Club Wolverine teammates, including Davis Tarwater, Peter Vanderkaay, Erik Vendt and Kaitlin Sandeno. Meanwhile, Natalie Coughlin is also slated to race overseas, along with Dana Vollmer and Cullen Jones. The American coaches for the meet will be Jon Urbanchek and Alex Braunfeld and other athletes representing the United States will be Tara Kirk, Kim Vandenberg and Maritza Correia.
