Sandra Freeman Leads Day Three of Mt. Hood Sectionals

The third day of the 2015 Speedo Western Section Championship in Gresham, Oregon was highlighted by Sandra Freeman’s dominating win in the women’s 400 IM.

Freeman, who posted a time of 4:53.95, snagged her Olympic Trials qualifying time, grabbing the win by over four seconds. Madeline Myers was second to the wall, coming in at 4:58.27. The bronze went to Kelly Huffer who hit the wall at 4:59.92.

Earlier in the meet, Eryn Eddy swam to first in the women’s 200 freestyle with a time of 2:03.30. She was followed by Brittany Aoyama who hit the wall in second place in 2:04.08. Emma Chard followed with a time of 2:04.31.

The men’s 200 freestyle was a close race between Ryan McCoy and Dylan Bunch. The event was ultimately won by McCoy who posted a time of 1:52.14. Bunch followed with a swift 1:52.84, while Kacy Johnson was third to the wall with a time of 1:53.97.

In the men’s final of the 400 IM, Dylan Bunch won the event in a final time of 4:28.88. He was followed by Daniel Carr who came into the wall in 4:30.99. Lane Bretschneider grabbed third with a time of 4:34.10.

The women’s 200 freestyle relay was dominated yet again by the Scottsdale Aquatic Club. The team of Gabriella Fagan (27.52) Victoria Toris (26.54) Samantha Fazio (26.67) and Taylor Ruck (25.49) put together a 1:46.22 for the win. They were followed by The Dolphin’s team of Alayna Connor (26.51) Lindsay Swail (26.69) Jordan Ashmore (27.24) and Sierra Sexton (25.82) came together for second in a final time of 1:46.26. Third place was grabbed by the University of Denver Hilltoppers team of Zoe Huddleston (26.74) Amanda Sanders (26.66) Heidi Bradley (26.96) and Morgan Wice-Roslin (26.41) who earned the bronze with an effort of 1:46.77.

In the men’s 200 freestyle relay, the Phoenix Swim Club grabbed the win with the group of Luke Williams (23.79) Angus Hannan (23.60) Ryan McCoy (23.85) and Grady Ottomeyer (23.39) teaming up for a winning time of 1:34.63. The University of Denver Hilltoppers team of Dylan Bunch (25.00) Timothy Cottam (23.32) Lane Bretschneider (24.27) and Kyle Robrock (22.59) combined for second place and a time of 1:35.18. Tualatin Hills Swim Club’s group of Liam Metzsch (23.71) Gabriel Rooker (23.82) Trenton Martinez (24.44) and Evan Carlson (23.86) won the bronze in a time of 1:35.83.
