Patriot League Awards Go To Bucknell, Navy and Army

CENTER VALLEY, Penn, February 3. BUCKNELL sophomore Todd Bauer (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) and senior Sarah Petcavage (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) were tabbed the Patriot League Men's Swimmer and Women's Diver of the Week, respectively, after solid performances. Navy junior Tori Throckmorton (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron), the Women's Swimmer of the Week, and Army sophomore Doug Klein (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing), the Men's Diver of the Week, round out the list of weekly winners for the week ending Feb. 1.

Bauer gained the Men's Swimmer of the Week nod after posting a pair of individual victories in Bucknell's 181-101 win over League foe Lafayette Saturday. The sophomore opened the week by winning the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:45.18, which was .32 seconds quicker than teammate John Hoffman. Bauer also stood atop the podium in the 500 freestyle with a season-best time of 4:46.44, topping teammate Brooks Steadman by 5.15 seconds. Bauer was also a member of the gold-medal winning 800 freestyle relay squad (7:20.31).

Throckmorton wins Women's Swimmer of the Week accolades for the second time this season after notching two individual wins in Navy's 183-116 loss to Pennsylvania Saturday. The junior posted the second-best time in Academy history in the 100 backstroke with a mark of 1:04.65 (57.92 – converted). Throckmorton has won six-straight 100 backstroke races and 9 of 10 attempts this season. She picked up her second gold medal of the day in the 100 freestyle with a time of 58.28 (52.21 – converted), which was 1.8 seconds quicker than the next closest competitor. Throckmorton was also a member of the victorious 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay squads.

Klein takes home the Men's Diver of the Week award for the fourth time this season after a record-breaking performance last week. In a 121-120 loss to Brown Wednesday, the sophomore broke the Academy record in the one-meter event with 328.65 points. He also claimed the gold medal in the three-meter dive (311.63) against the Bears. Klein was back on the board Saturday to face Dartmouth. He continued his winning ways by sweeping the diving events for the eighth time this season. In the one-meter, he notched 303.45 markers, while he finished with 245.10 points in the three-meter event.

Petcavage earns the Women's Diver of the Week award for the first time this season after sweeping the diving events in a 191-101 win over Lafayette Saturday. The senior posted the second-best mark in school history in the one-meter event with 227.46 points, which was 1.28 markers better than LC's Alana Anzalone. Petcavage earned her second gold medal of the meet when she racked up 232.50 points in the three-meter dive.
