The University of North Carolina received an early verbal commitment for the 2016 freshman class, as the versatile Virginian Reni Moshos will become a Tar Heel in a little more than a year.

Moshos trains year-round with Nation’s Capital Swim Club, and will be a senior at Highland School. She’s been a star at the Virginia Independent Schools championships, winning the 200 IM two years in a row and setting the state record last February with a lifetime best 2:00.71. (She would lower that personal best to 2:00.12 the following month at the National Club Swimming Association’s junior national championships.)

Moshos’ versatility showed in winning the 100 back as a freshman in 2013 and the 100 breast in 2014 for Highland. Her ability to swim well in any stroke will benefit Rich DeSelm’s program greatly, particularly in dual meets where Moshos could slip into nearly any event and perform well.

Below, a sampling of Moshos’ best short course yards times:
50 free: 23.34
100 free: 51.01
200 free: 1:50.23
100 back: 55.35
200 back: 1:57.28
100 breast: 1:04.34
200 breast: 2:17.66
100 fly: 54.85
200 IM: 2:00.12
400 IM: 4:14.48

Moshos’ NCAP teammate Kylie Jordan made a verbal commitment to Duke two weeks ago, and the two could face off in the 200 IM at the VISAA meet next year.
