Morning Swim Show: Open Water Swimming More Than Getting From Point A to Point B For Nial Funchion

PHOENIX, Arizona, September 3. NIAL Funchion recently became a member of the Triple Crown open water swimming club, and he joins today’s edition of The Morning Swim Show to talk about his most recent swim, and the organizations that were a big part of his desire to complete the swims.

About 15 years after starting his quest to complete the Triple Crown with a crossing of the English Channel, Funchion has also swum around Manhattan Island, and two weeks ago, swam across Catalina Channel. He talks about his humble beginnings in open water swimming, what fuels his desire to complete these tough swims and the group of swimmers who motivate him in Chicago. He also talks about the Brotherhood for the Fallen, a group of police officers in Chicago that attends funerals for fallen policemen and policewomen, and how he’s found their support to be a saving grace in completing his swims, and gives him an outlet as fellow police officer.
