BARCELONA, May 25. DENMARK'S Mette Jacobsen completed her double in the butterfly events on the final day of the Mare Nostrum meet in Barcelona by taking the 200 meter fly in a fast 2:09.04. As she did in the 100, Sophia Skou finished second (2:11.17) while Spain's Mireia Garcia was third (2:11.40).
Spain's Nina Zhivanevskaya annexed the 200 backstroke, completing her sweep of the women's dorsal events. The former Russian star won the four lap race in a solid 2:12.30, again edging Germany's Antje Buschschulte.
Other winners included Sue Rolph in the 100 free (55.91), Camelia Potec in the 400 free (4:10.22), Agnes Kovacs in the 200 breast (2:28.54), and Yana Klochkova in the 200 IM 2:14.75). Yesterday Rolph had won the 50 free and Potec the 200 free. Kovacs had taken the 50 and 100 breast, while Klochkova had recorded triumphs in the 800 free and 400 IM.
Romania's Cezar Badita, winner of the 400 IM earlier, added the 200 medley yesterday, clocking 2:02.94 to South Africa's Terrence Parkin's 2:04.06.
Algeria's Salim Iles diped under 50 seconds (49.91) to win the 100 free, while Romania's Dragos Coman took the 400 (3:51.22) with relative ease.
Olympic silver medalist Rodolfo Falcon of Cuba took the 100 back (56.30) while Russian Olympian Andrei Ivano won gold in the 200 breast (2:17.71) with Parkin second again. Ukraine's Denis Silantiev had no trouble in taking the 200 fly, his 1:58.58 more than two seconds faster than the U.S.'s Andrew Mahaney.
