Italian Long Course Nationals: Federica Pellegrini Claims Fourth Freestyle Title; Mirco Di Tora Posts Top 15 Swim

RICCIONE, Italy, April 17. THE Italian Long Course Nationals came to a close with Federica Pellegrini nabbing her fourth freestyle crown, while Mirco Di Tora turned in a top-15 time.

Pellegrini grabbed her fourth freestyle victory of the meet with a 16th-ranked 8:31.08 in the women's 800 free. She also won the 100, 200 and 400 freestyle crowns this week. Rachele Bruni placed second in 8:35.01, while Martina De Memme earned third in 8:40.30.

Di Tora jumped up to 15th in the world rankings in the men's 50 back with a top time of 25.35. Stefano Pizzamiglio finished second in 25.60, while Niccolo Bonacchi earned third in 25.92.

Niccolo Beni moved into the top 20 in the men's 200 fly with a winning time of 1:57.82, while Francesco Pavone touched second in 1:58.98. Gabriele Landini completed the podium with a third-place 1:59.41, while Michele Cosentino also cleared 2:00 with a fourth-place 1:59.53.

Flavio Bizzarri claimed a top-20 time of his own with a winning 2:12.42 in the men's 200 breast. Edoardo Giorgetti stopped the clock in 2:12.66 for second, while Luca Pizzini placed third in 2:13.61.

Chiara Boggiatto snared the women's 100 breast title in 1:09.74, while Nicol Valentini earned second in 1:10.14. Ilaria Scarcella placed third in 1:10.45. Erika Ferraioli hit the wall in 25.98 to win the women's 50 free. Giada Galizi placed second in 26.03, while Ylenia Sciarrini wound up third in 26.10.

Alessia Polieri topped the women's 200 IM in 2:14.37, while Marussia Pietrocola finished second in 2:16.50. Stefania Pirozzi snagged third in 2:17.32. Massi Rosolino touched Filippo Ton, 1:51.18 to 1:51.60, in the men's 200 free. Fabio Donanzan touched third in 1:52.20.
