Dara Torres Is “Holiday Fit” Correspondent for TV’s “INSIDE EDITION”

By Evan J. Schapiro

NEW YORK, Dec. 7. YESTERDAY, US Olympic champion swimmer Dara Torres, the first American woman to swim in four Olympiads, issued her first report for the nationally syndicated television newsmagazine, INSIDE EDITION. The reports are scheduled to continue throughout the holiday season. Executive
Producer Charles Lachman made the announcement today.

Torres' series of reports will provide viewers with
"Inside" tips on staying slim and trim during the holidays. In her first report, cameras follow Torres around the gym as she speaks with a personal trainer, nutritionist, and gym enthusiasts. While on one of her favorite exercise machines, the Gravitron, Dara shows viewers how to have an effective workout when time is
of the essence. Additionally, she explains to viewers the proper way to do sit-ups and stomach crunches.

"INSIDE EDITION is thrilled that a champion athlete like Dara is on-board to help viewers stay fit during the holidays," stated Lachman. "The holidays are always a time to indulge, but Dara's expert advice should help viewers understand the importance of eating right and staying in shape."

"It's a privilege to contribute to such a highly reputable newsmagazine in this way," stated Torres. "I look forward to sharing with INSIDE EDITION viewers my training techniques, and it is my hope they will learn the importance of working out and eating right."

At the 2000 Sydney Games, after a seven-year layoff from swimming from 1992-99, Torres captured two gold and three bronze medals, as the US team set world records in the 4 x 100m freestyle and the 4 x 100m medley relays.

Torres' participation in the Olympics began at age 17, when she won a gold medal at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Since then, she earned a silver and bronze medal in the 1988 Olympics and a gold medal at the 1992 Olympics. She is the American record-holder in the 50m freestyle and 100m butterfly and a member of the USA's world record team in the 400m freestyle relay. Torres is one of only two women in history to earn maximum NCAA All-American honors.

A native of Beverly Hills, California, Torres currently resides in New York City and is a contributing reporter for "Good Morning America." She is a graduate of the University of Florida.

Currently in its 14th season, the multi award winning INSIDE EDITION is television's longest- running syndicated newsmagazine. The series is distributed in the U.S. by King World Productions, Inc.
