SCOTTSDALE, Arizona, October 6. AS was first rumored earlier this week in the swimming blogosphere, Amanda Beard has signed with GoDaddy.com to be the Internet domain registrar's newest Go Daddy Girl.
"Being a Go Daddy Girl is the icing on the cake for me," Beard said. "I'm excited to be with a world leader. Go Daddy is the best in the world at what they do, they like to take chances and they certainly know how to have fun – who wouldn't want to be a part of that?"
While GoDaddy.com has not confirmed that it will advertise in the Super Bowl again this year, after three straight years of making its name based on the racy ads it airs during professional football's biggest game, the chance to be seen by billions of people worldwide was a path that Beard decided to take.
The deal definitely moves Beard into the mainstream as she continues to build a foundation for her career post-Beijing. She already has begun stints on Fox Sports Net and has appeared in Sports Illustrated and as the cover girl of Playboy. She also appeared on the cover of FHM in 2004 and 2006, the latter naming her the world's sexiest athlete.
With a loaded American breaststroke corps like Jessica Hardy, Rebecca Soni, Caitlin Leverenz, Megan Jendrick, Keri Hehn and Tara Kirk, Beard definitely faces a tough battle as she attempts to make her fourth Olympics after competing in Atlanta, Sydney and Athens including gold medals in 1996 (400 medley relay) and 2004 (200 breast).
Beard joins Indy Racing League's Danica Patrick, world land speed record holder Valerie Thompson and original Go Daddy Girl as well as professional wrestler Candice Michelle, who all appeared together in last year's Super Bowl ad.
