Nicolas Granger Takes Down Two Masters World Records in Paris

Nicolas Granger

PARIS, France, April 7. NICOLAS Granger is no stranger to world records, having set more than a few in nearly 20 years in Masters swimming. He set two more recently at the French short course meters nationals in the 100 breaststroke.

The 47-year-old posted a 56.66 in the 100 fly, taking down the 56.78 swum by Canada’s Deke Botsford in 2012. Granger obliterated the field in the 100 breast, posting a 1:04.02 in the event. He broke the previous world mark of 1:04.62 in the 45-49 age group held by Italy’s Rico Rolli since 2011.

Granger chased after a couple of his own world records at the meet, but fell short. He swam a 57.87 in the 100 IM, missing his mark of 57.68, and won the 100 free in 51.46, just off his world record of 51.30.

Granger was voted one of the Swimming World Magazine 2012 World Masters Swimmers of the Year, and looks to be in contention for another appearance on the esteemed list.
