ANGERS, France, March 15. MASTERS swimming legend Karlyn Pipes-Neilsen set three new Masters swimming short course meters world records over the weekend at the French Masters national championships.
Pipes-Neilsen, who represents the Boulogne-Billancourt Aquatic Club when she swims outside the United States, started her meet last Friday with a 1:08.28 in the 100 IM, setting a new mark in the 50-54 age group. The former record stood at 1:09.22 by Australia's Jenny Whiteley.
The same day, Pipes-Neilsen shattered Leslie Livingston's world record of 1:09.25 in the 100 back with a 1:08.12. She returned on Saturday to obliterate the three-week-old world record she set in the 100 fly of 1:08.09 with a speedy 1:06.92.
Pipes-Neilsen, 50, is returning to the sport after an extended break. She has been breaking Masters world records since 1987.
