SANTA CLARA, California, May 13. CURTIS Ogren, a junior at St. Francis, set a national independent school record in the 200 IM at the CIF Central Coast Section Championships May 10-11 in Santa Clara. Ogren posted a 1:45.01, which betters Matt Thompson's 2009 time of 1:45.27. David Nolan still holds the overall mark at 1:41.39 from 2011. Ogren also set a Central Coast record of 53.90 in the 100 breast.

Sacred Heart Prep junior Ally Howe missed out on a national independent mark by just 2-hundredths with her 52.32 in the 100 back. Missy Franklin keeps the record she set in 2011 of 52.30. Howe claimed a second victory with her 1:58.23 in the 200 IM.
Alexa Cacuo, a Milpitas junior, set a record in the diving event with 515.60 points.
Bellarmine College Prep swam away with the boys team title, scoring 375 points to runner-up Palo Alto's 227. Monta Vista finished one point ahead of St. Francis for third, 183-182, with St. Ignatius taking fifth (156).
Bellarmine swimmers swept all three relays. The squad of senior Matt Webster, junior Timothy Kou, senior Christopher Schaeffer and sophomore Cooper Burrill combined for a 1:32.06 in the 200 medley relay. Senior Jackson Locke and sophomore Michael Messner joined Burrill and Burns for a first-place 1:23.78 in the 200 free relay. Locke, Kou, Schaeffer and Burns joined up for a 3:00.89 in the 400 free relay.
Burns earned victories in both the 200 free (1:37.25) and 500 free (4:22.53), and Locke placed first in the 100 free (45.14). Palo Alto junior Andrew Liang also picked up a couple of wins courtesy of his 20.64 in the free and 47.19 in the 100 fly, missing a division record by 7-hundredths in the latter event.
In his first year of high school swimming, Benjamin Ho from St. Francis grabbed a win in the 100 back with his 49.00 effort. Colin Zheng, a junior at The King's Academy, put together a winning round of dives and earning a final score of 650.25 points.
Monta Vista's girls squad earned their team title with 223 points. In a tight battle for second through fifth places, Pioneer grabbed second with 185 points, followed closely by Archbishop Mitty (176), Menlo-Atherton (175) and Gunn (173).
Monta Vista's quartet of junior Sarah Kaunitz, sophomore Sayeli Faridnia, freshman Lisa Kaunitz and junior Carly Reid joined forces to grab wins in both free relays (200 free, 1:34.85; 400 free, 3:27.05). Pioneer's 200 medley relay of sophomore Sandra Soe, junior Layna Auchard, senior Linnea Mack and sophomore Sierra Painter took charge of the 200 medley relay with their 1:44.32.
Pioneer's Mack was triumphant in the 50 free (22.64), and teammate Soe came in first in the 500 free (4:48.95). Leah Goldman, a Burlingame junior, dueled Mack to a 53.69-53.88 finish in the 100 fly.
Catherine Ladd, a junior at Willow Glen, claimed first in the 100 free (49.74), as did Jennifer Campbell, a junior at Gunn, in the 200 free (1:46.35). Castilleja sophomore Sarah Liang's 1:02.13 gave her the top spot on the podium after the 100 breast.
