The Woodlands Diver Kassidy Cook Commits to Stanford -- August 25, 2012

STANFORD, California, August 25. WHILE the athletics administration might still be in the final stages of trying to replace Lea Maurer as the women's swimming head coach at Stanford, head diving coach Dr. Rick Schavone is still going strong as he secured a commitment from The Woodlands diver Kassidy Cook today.

Cook made the announcement on Facebook today, much to the delight of her Facebook friends, already drawing more than 500 likes.

"[California] bound next year," Cook wrote. "Officially a member of Stanford University's class of 2017! So excited :)"

A USA Diving national champion in the one-meter in 2010, Cook focused on the three meter individual and synchronized events this year, just missing the 2012 London Olympic roster with a fourth-place finish in the individual event and second-place finish with Olympian Christina Loukas in the synchronized event.

With the U.S. having its best Olympic diving outcome in more than a decade in London, being one of the first off the roster still means Cook is an incredible diver who will immediately step into NCAA title contention for the Cardinal as a freshman.
